The transmutation of Pig manure adds value to the farm
Swine farms of all sizes can produce bio-gas from pig manure. Bio gas or digester gas from pig manure is an alternative energy that is attractive in today's expensive oil industry. Energy consciousness and the usage of a renewable energy from a natural source is one of the energy conversion forms that farmers should not overlook. In addition to energy, it also helps reduce waste and deceases the pollution from animal waste.
Bio gas is a natural gas produced by natural eutectic degradation process in oxygen-degrading process. This biogas contains methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and nitrogen (N2). The methane is a flammable gas, so the "biogas" that contains a lot of methane can be used as a renewable energy.
At SJF Farm we use a plastic lagoon or cover lagoon system or a closed fermentation pond which helps reducing odor and flies splendidly. The gas that is generated when passed through the generator can produce electricity to use in the farm.
